Shenandoah Meadows is located in picturesque Fort Valley, Virginia. A short 90 minute ride from the Metropolitan Washington D.C. area. Fort Valley is a sleepy, peaceful valley located between Front Royal and Woodstock, Va and is completely surrounded by George Washington National Forest. 'The Fort' as locals call it, is unspoiled in its natural beauty. Wildlife and the wonders of nature abound. Activities include some of the best trout fishing around. Both Passage Creek and Little Passage Creek are stocked with Rainbow, Brown, and Brook trout by the state.
Fort Valley is also home unique sporting events. The 100 mile One Day Endurance Run (yes...run) is held here annually, as is the 100 mile Endurance Horse race -- an international event drawing visitors and competitors from around the world.
The Fort Valley Volunteer Fire Department has Pancake and Sausage breakfasts, and Country Ham and Oyster Dinners occasionally throughout the year. Somewhat famous for their good food and family atmosphere, people come from miles around -- sometimes these dinners serve in excess of a thousand people.
Hang gliders, para-sailers, and mountain-bikers make frequent use of the forest. Particularly popular for the hang gliders, as a take off point, is nearby Woodstock Tower Overlook.
